Our Vision to expose students to new and exciting digital ways to collaborate and share knowledge on the Internet. Students will learn to use and become familiar with 21st century digital technologies that are becoming commonplace in high school, higher education institutions, and the workplace.

a. Online Safety & Security in Collaborative Environments
Cyber Stalking - Have Students "cyber stalk" online to find specific facts about real people? Tip: Get permission from the real people first (I used my father, a fellow teacher, a fellow student that plays a sport in college, and a business person from the community )
Create a Safe Visual Representation of Yourself - log in as a guest to see this list of web sites where students may create a safe visual representation to use as their profile picture in our social network
Google Docs Form - this is where you can create an online form to collect student Gmail addresses after they create their accounts in Gmail
GMail Google Docs Live form - this is the actual form my students submit. I then share it with all the students in class which is important in communication during certain assignments
Schoology Course Social Network- I created a social network in Schoology; this web tool has an interface similar to Facebook

Wiki Etiquette - it is also important that students know and practice good wiki etiquette when creating and adding to wiki pages

Voki - students create a talking avatar and embed it at the top of their wiki page introducing their wiki page to visitors
Vozme - a text to speech tool for students to create an mp3 file of their voice for their voki in case they are not using their cell phone or they do not want to speak in front of other students
Hexadecimal Color Codes - teaching students to find their choice of color in formatting their wiki page text is a good thing. ;)

Placing Widgets on wikipages - I encourage students to add widgets throughout the course to create their own PLE and set a certain mood/aesthetics to their learning space they are offering visitors
Collaborate on Google Docs - the type of collaborating (live chat) depends on type of Google Doc (for example, Live chat is available for presentations on when collaborators are viewing the show

Google Docs Teacher Form Example- this provides the students with an example before creating their Google Docs form (I ban them from asking "favorites" questions in their form; this can be over done)
Random Group Creator- I use this website to create random student groups; students like the proof of fairness, plus it's a good way to model the use of technology all around the classroom

Delicious Bookmark Tools - this is where students create their customized tagroll to embed on their wiki page (Words of caution: I advise my students to decheck (Add to my Network) and username, and make sure the tagroll title has only their first name or Delicious username; also, students need a minimum of 10 tags to create a tag roll embed code
Symbaloo - a fun website where students can customize their desktop according to their favorite websites; a different and visual take of collecting all favorite websites into one place

Our Course Blog - note: I delete posts that are repeated each marking period so students do not have the advantage of looking at past students' comments; also, make sure you have all blog comments go to your email first for approval before publishing on your course blog (change this in Settings of blog on blogger)

Prezi Presentation Website - this is "hands down" the most popular tool students take into their other courses. Now, they can also embed YouTube videos. Prezi gets better & better!
Learn Prezi - easy-to-follow videos to help students learn how to create a Prezi
Picnik - use this online photo-editing site to crop screen shots of the comics that do not provide embedding or saving. Students copy and paste a screen shot of their comic strip into Paint, save it as a .jpg, then upload the file to picnik to further embellish with borders. Students may also crop the file in Paint with the selection tool. Students will then upload their .jpg to DivShare, which will provide an embedding code to place as a widget on their wiki.
Podcomatic - to create an enhanced podcast with cellphone (1 picture for track)
Yodio - to create an enhanced podcast with cellphone (2 pictures - 1 for cover and 1 for track)

Camstudio - need to download Camstudio (open source screen capture software); you may also use Jing
Alternative: Students can narrate in Google Earth and save it. See this document. I wanted to combine the lessons to give students experience doing a screen capture.
Kaywa QR Code Generator - students will copy and paste their video's YouTube URL into the generator to generate a QR code that will take a person, with a smartphone and QR Code reader app, right to the student's content on YouTube
CuePrompter- this site was added in the backchannel by one of my students who does the morning show at our school; she showed other students how to copy parts of the script into the cue prompter, which students could use to narrate and not be holding a paper
Vozme - a text to speech tool for students to create an mp3 file of their voice for their voki in case they are not using their cell phone or they do not want to speak in front of other students
How to Use Vozme- text to speech to create .mp3 files - perfect if a student is shy about speaking in front of the class while narrating his show in MovieMaker
QR Code Easel Frame Copy - the students printed this paper, cut it, and placed it in the plexiglass easels I purchased at Walmart; to insert the QR Code image .jpg file, students after inserting the picture need to right-click the picture, select In Front of Text for text wrapping (or Format Picture and then choose Layout), and then re-size to fit the small square.

- Online Stopwatch - this is great for students to gauge how long their script will be in narration
- How to Use QR Codes - this is a fun animation created in Xtranormal
- Kaywa QR Code Generator - students will copy and paste their video's YouTube URL into the generator to generate a QR code that will take a person, with a smartphone and QR Code reader app, right to the student's content on YouTube
- CuePrompter- this site was added in the backchannel by one of my students who does the morning show at our school; she showed other students how to copy parts of the script into the cue prompter, which students could use to narrate and not be holding a paper
- Vozme - a text to speech tool for students to create an mp3 file of their voice for their voki in case they are not using their cell phone or they do not want to speak in front of other students
